Personal Emergency Response Systems
A Personal Emergency Response System (PERS) is an electronic device used so that you can call for help in an emergency. It has two simple parts: a small transmitter button and a console connected to your telephone line. When the button is pressed, it signals the console, which automatically dials our emergency response center which monitors the calls. The monitoring center will call you back to find out what is wrong. If the monitoring center is unable to reach the person or help is needed, the center will try to reach your designated friend or family member to follow up the call. If a medical emergency appears evident, an ambulance or other emergency provider will be dispatched.
Who needs a PERS? Everyone does! The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services suggests all Americans have a personal plan and to prepare for emergencies. The use of a personal emergency response system is to prevent further injury or damage after a fall or other emergency situation occurs. Further injury can occur by trying to move to get help or by trying to reach the phone. These systems are especially useful for older individuals, the mobility challenged, those living alone, users of multiple medications, and anyone else who finds a need for one. Emergency situations can occur anytime, anyplace, and to anyone. A PERS greatly increases response time of help.
ASAP Security Services provides unsurpassed excellence in monitoring for Personal Emergency Response Systems. We realize that the monitoring of these systems requires more tact and patience than standard alarm monitoring. Our monitoring service has taken this realization to another level by employing operators with Sociology and Psychology degrees. It is not uncommon for subscribers, especially the elderly, to misuse the emergency button from confusion, dementia, or loneliness. Our operators understand these incidents and handle them with compassion.
ASAP Security Services further compliments this service by maintaining a database of drug allergies, special information, and medicines currently used by the subscriber. This information can be life saving when passed along to first responders in the event of an emergency. In addition, ASAP Security Services provides a key lockbox that can be put on the house. This allows access to the house for first responders when the occupant in need and is unable to get to the door, therefore, saving valuable time.
